EVENT RESCHEDULED! The celebration originally scheduled for Saturday July 18th has been rescheduled due to the extremely poor air quality as a result of wildfires.
We have rescheduled this event for August 29, 2026 from 11 am to 1 pm.
Help us celebrate 10 years of the Butterflyway Project! This is the David Suzuki Foundation’s longest running national engagement project, bringing together Butterflyway Rangers creating pollinator pathways and restoring native habitat across Canada.
This family event at Guild Park’s award-winning pollinator garden will include activities for kids, information tables, LiveGreen Toronto, and a huge wildflower giveaway!
The festivities begin at 11 am sharp with a welcome from John Mason, President of Friends of Guild Park, some inspirational words from Butterflyway Project staff at the David Suzuki Foundation, and a few words about local projects from Butterflyway Ranger leaders including Dorte Windmuller of the Cliffcrest Butterflyway, Catherine Jan of the Bendale Butterflyway and Allison Murray of the Guildwood Butterflyway.
Once the speechifying is done, the wildflower giveaway begins! The only rule is that there is a limit of two plants per person (one for each hand) so bring your friends and family, including the kids.
LiveGreen Toronto will also have an information tent on site, and at 1:30 there will be a short tour of Guild Park and Gardens led by John Mason. If you have never been to the park this will be well worth it (and it’s free)!
The event takes place at Guild Park and Gardens, 201 Guildwood Parkway in Scarborough. Look for the log cabin (Sculptor’s Cabin) on the east side of the front parking lot, right beside the native pollinator garden. We look forward to seeing you there! If you are driving, there is plenty of free parking.
If you are taking public transit, here are the instructions:
By bus from Kennedy Station in Scarborough: Take the 116 bus eastbound to Finch via Morningside. There are two stops within one block of Guild Park: Chancery Lane and Guild Park & Gardens East. Both are request stops.
By GO Train: Take the Lakeshore East train to Guildwood GO Station (4th stop after Union). Exit via the south parking lot on Westlake Road, walk one block west to Livingston Road and walk four blocks south down Livingston Road to Guildwood Parkway. Turn left and walk two blocks to Guild Park & Gardens.
